چکیده

For many signal sources such as speech with distinct, nonwhite power spectral densities, second-order statistics of the received signal mixture can be exploited for signal separation. Without knowledge on noise correlation matrix, we propose a simple and yet effective signal extraction method for signal source separation under unknown temporally white noise. This new and unbiased signal extractor is derived from the matrix pencil formed between output autocorrelation matrices at different delays. Based on the matrix pencil, an ESPRIT-type algorithm is derived to get an optimal solution in least square sense. Our method is well suited for systems with colored sensor noises and for nonstationary signals.

The generalized eigendecomposition approach to the blind source separation problem

This paper proposes a novel formulation of the generalized eigendecomposition (GED) approach to blind source separation (BSS) problems. The generalized eigendecomposition algorithms consider the estimation of a pair of correlation matrices (a matrix pencil) using observed sensor signals. Each of various algorithms proposed in the literature uses a different approach to form the pencil. This stu...

Separation of a mixture of signals using linear filtering and second order statistics

Some recent works address the problem of blind source separation with a matrix pencil. In this paper we show that the covariance matrices of the pencil can be computed at the output of a simple linear filter instead of using time-delayed covariance matrices. It is also shown, using block matrix manipulation, that the method might applied when the number of source signals is not equal to the num...

Blind Separation of Jointly Stationary Correlated Sources

The separation of unobserved sources from mixed observed data is a fundamental signal processing problem. Most of the proposed techniques for solving this problem rely on independence or at least uncorrelation assumption for source signals. This paper introduces a technique for cases that source signals are correlated with each other. The method uses Wold decomposition principle for extracting ...

Discussion of Simple Algorithms and Methods to Separate Nonstationary Signals

In the last decade, many researchers have investigated the blind separation of sources and many algorithms have been proposed to solve this problem for the case of an instantaneous mixture (memoryless mixture) [1]. In general, high-order statistics (i.e., fourth order) are used. However, it has been shown that algorithms and criteria can be simpli ed by adding special assumptions [2]. In this p...
